The rescheduled Dwellingup Endurance ride provided the perfect light hearted end to the WAERA Riding season. With the ride date occurring on the 31st Oct, there was no way that a Halloween fancy dress opportunity could be missed. It was very reminiscent of the former Margaret River ride, which was well known for its dressup themes.
The ride was well attended with a lot of people enjoying the camaraderie and trails of the 21km event, as well as those choosing to finish the season with a last 80km event.
Of special note and congratulations were the milestones that were achieved over the weekend - including welcoming our busy Vice President Tash Ellery back for her first ride of the season on Sundale Bellagio - the seasoned campaigners achieving not only an excellent fancy dress but first HW rider and Best Conditioned HW. Caren Earl also had a special celebration with her qualifying ride on Glenrowan Estate Baha and Joe Byrne, who conquered the Mongolian Derby earlier in the year, successfully completed his first 80km ride with WAERA riding Al Haris Al Akhir. Another personal milestone we were happy to help celebrate was with long term endurance member, Cassie Mulcahy, who not only came equal 2nd lightweight riding with her mum, Liz, but clocked up her 20,000th plus endurance kms! Well done Cassie!
Congratulations also to Tegan Symington partnered with Sholto Divinity for placing 1st MW and taking out the BC whilst completing their qualifying ride, as well as Kerryn Willing partnered with Roswa Park Neitri for their successful first LW and BC.
